Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
